Fact Checkers

Facebook, as many of you know, has the Fact Checkers going through and checking on the content that you post. Most recently, they have been doing their fact checking on anything Covid-19 related. The problem with those fact checkers, at least how many people saw it, was that they would plaster those banners all over the place, sometimes hiding the original post. This would cause concern for many of us because it didn't really allow anyone to read through the posts or website links and let us decide what we wanted to believe or not. Recently, we have heard that Facebook admitted those fact checkers are really much of a fact checker, but are actually their opinions on things. How absurd is that? It was bad enough when it was thought they were doing fact checking (although probably from sources they agreed with more), but now it is so much worse now that it is merely just their opinions. Or, more than likely, the opinions of whichever individual or entity pays the most or offers the most.

You can check out more details about their fact checking practices in several places, including here.

Hate and Misinformation

In other somewhat recent news, a whistleblower came out to talk about the hideous culture and business practices found at Facebook. According to the whisteblower, Facebook's very own research shows their platform amplies misinformation, hate, and political unrest. The company knows this and has been hiding it from us. Not only are their fact checkers more opinion staters, but they fuel the misinformation and poor culture between people with differing beliefs and political views. Facebook didn't care what was in the best interest of the public, they only cared about what was best for them and what would continue to generate revenue.

Twitter

Twitter also seems to have their own political agendas and will ban accounts that aren't in line with their views. One example is President Trump. He was removed temporarily from Twitter multiple times because of the things he would post. Eventually, he was removed completely. Sure, he had some harsh things to say here and there, but at least he was not afraid to open up and speak his mind. Sure, he could have worded things differently at times, but we all have those times. The simple truth is that what he was posting on their platform wasn't what they wanted to see. I am sure we have all seen far worse things on there than what President Trump wrote, right?

Stick This

The couple of points shown about Facebook and Twitter are just a couple examples why Stick This was created. At Stick This, there is no political agenda here. Everyone has their own political views and everyone should be free to talk about them. Will there be disagreements among users on here? You bet. Will Stick This remove content because of disagreements? Nope. You can feel free to start any topics you want and believe in without the fear of them being removed because we disagree with your topic. A part of being Human is the ability to reason and evaluate what you read and see - so do that here. Find something that doesn't seem to be accurate? Research it and come to your own conclusion and make up your own mind. Feel free to comment back to the author of the original post and let them know what you found. You may be helping them to learn and grow which will benefit us all. Will Stick This have their own version of fake, I mean fact checkers? Not today and not ever. It is not our job to tell you what to believe. It is your job to learn and grow and come to your own conclusion.
